Power of Healing
In the years following its discovery, few practitioners were brave enough to insert Chiron into birth charts. It seemed too soon, and astrologers didn't know enough about it. That has changed. Today, Chiron, referred to as the Wounded Healer, is often included in interpretations. Astrologers see Chiron as both a point of pain and a source of healing an area where you have suffered or been disappointed and where you must find resolution. Astrologers also associate Chiron with the holistic healing movement. Note that the astrological Chiron, like the mythological figure, is more than a victim and a healer. As a tutor, Chiron was known for his wisdom and his teaching ability. Astrologer Zipporah Dobyns, PhD, links Chiron with Sagittarius and suggests that it indicates not only the quest for knowledge but also the impulse to share it with others.
The astral body is the subtle form or model, the life imprint, out of which the physical body arises. By changing its internal energies we can alter our outer physical functioning as well. Such 'working on the subtle body' is the basis of pranic or energetic healing that Ayurveda also employs. The causal body holds the underlying will and motivation in our hearts. By changing our deepest thoughts and intentions we can alter both our physical body and its vital energies. This is the basis of spiritual healing in Ayurveda, which targets the causal body.
Psychologically, Sun types are compelling, dominant and king-like or queen-like, characterized by a strong will and determined vital energy. They are independent, regal, proud, and sometimes vain. They have strong emotions, generally of a personal nature, but are seldom overcome by them. They like to be leaders and authorities, naturally gaining power over others and often excelling in politics. They prefer to be the bestower of light and may turn others into their satellites. They are highly perceptive, critical, and can probe deeply into things. They can make good scientists or psychologists and develop new insights. Higher Moon types have psychic and spiritual abilities, with spiritual devotion and contemplative powers. They can be healers, psychics and mystics owing to their power of empathy. However, if the Moon is disturbed in the chart (as under joint Saturn-Mars influence or with Rahu) emotional turbulence can be indicated, including psychological derangements.
Meditation on planetary deities attunes our consciousness with the higher awareness within the planets, promoting both psychological and spiritual healing. It is best used with mantra as explained in the next chapter. Please note Astrology of the Seers for more information on the traditional forms of the Vedic deities and how to visualize them.44 Of main importance is to contact the living energy of the planets the forms that we choose are secondary. In addition, in our general worship of God or the Goddess, for whatever purpose, we should not forget astrological forms and energies, which are among the most powerful.
A good rule to remember is that colors produced through natural impressions are better than those produced artificially. Artificial colors, like neon or fluorescent lights, or mass media impressions, tend to be unwholesome and disturb the nervous system and our vital energy field.
There are certain instances when we might prescribe the gem of a planet that is already strong in the chart, if occupationally the planetary energy is highly stressed. This rule is particularly helpful when a chart has no planets that are particularly weak and the person has an active career. To give an ancient example, Kings were often advised to wear rubies, even if the Sun was strong in their charts because of the demands made upon them for leadership. Astrologers and healers benefit from wearing gemstones while giving consultations or treatments to bring a healing or guiding energy in for their clients. For example, a healer may wear a gemstone for Mercury during treatments to increase the flow of Prana, even if the gem is not otherwise the best gem for them. Finally, always consider that gemstones are not indicated for all charts. Not every chart has one or two planets that can be conveniently strengthened with a gemstone. Spiritually advanced seekers may also not want to wear...
Such verses aim at warding off negative energies and promoting positive energies through an attunement of our speech, mind and will to the divine forces of the universe that work through the planets. To use them requires that we recognize the power of cosmic consciousness behind the planets, extending to our own higher Self or cosmic being.
The exaltation status centers on the heart and the solar plexus, two energy centers that function as seats of the individual self. The sign ruling status, on the other hand, is a vertically oriented symbolism reflecting the flow of prana from the lower to the higher chakras. The exaltation order reflects how the planets function once their energy is integrated within us. The solar energy from the head needs to be integrated into the vital energy in our navel or fire center (Aries). The martial energy of the navel center needs to be made concrete in action in the root center (Capricorn). The lunar receptive mind from the head needs to be integrated into the love energy in the heart (Taurus) . The Venus love energy in the heart needs to be integrated into the Jupiterian creative energy in the sex center. The Jupiter creative energy in the sex center needs to be brought to the top of the head. The Saturn detaching or negating energy in the root center needs to be brought up into the...
Similarly, Ayurveda is a precise and comprehensive tool for healing physical and psychological well-being, promoting optimal health, energy and vitality. There are many instances of Ayurvedic doctors introducing changes in a person's life, from simple dietary or life-style modifications, to special herbs or internal cleansings that can literally rejuvenate us, curing long standing and intractable health problems of various types. Because of such occurrences, some Ayurvedic doctors are regarded as magical healers, though they may only be employ ing practices based upon understanding the laws of nature and the movement of the life-force, such as Ayurveda has taught them.
To complete the astrological paradigm, the main planet ruling over Vata dosha is Saturn, which represents the negative side of our vital energy as entropy, time and decay. Yet Vata also relates to Mercury on its positive side as a force of movement, communication and expression. There are also higher forms of the doshas that govern positive health, rejuvenation, vital energy and emotional and mental well-being. The higher form of Vata is called Pram, which is responsible for the creative and transformative powers of the air element. The higher form of Pitta is called Tejas, which is responsible for the creative and transformative powers of the fire element. The higher form of Kapha is called Ojas, which is responsible for the creative and transformative powers of the water element.14 It is the transformation made possible through these subtle energies of the doshas that is targeted for the purposes of astrological healing.
The ninth house, along with Jupiter and the Sun, are significators for the Self or Soul (Atman). A good connection between the Ascendant or its lord and the ninth house or its lord provides a good ethical and spiritual disposition with a fair amount of Divine grace in life. Planets in the ninth house will help raise us up educationally, religiously and spiritually, and this will have its affect on the psychology and temperament of a person, bringing in higher values and pursuits.
Self-healing Through the Stars The author demonstrates great skill in presenting the treatment methods and remedial measures of ancient India for their healing benefits to the modern world. Ayurvedic Astrology Self Healing through the Stars is destined to become a classic text in the field. Self-healing through the Stars
Virgo governs Vata, the biological air humor in the body, in general. As most diseases are of this humor, planets in Virgo tend to cause disease. On the other hand, planets in this sign can make one a healer if they are well disposed. Sometimes disease makes us turn to healing. Virgo shows service to the physical body, either our own or that of others.
The Vedas tell us that the inner Sun is Prana and that the movements of the inner Sun or our life-force are measured or metered by the movements of the outer Sun.7 This unity of the Sun, the power of time, and Prana, the force of life, reflects the unity of the external universe or macrocosm and the internal universe or microcosm. This correspondence of time (Kala) measured by the stars and life (Prana) measured by the breath is an important concept in both Vedic astrology and Ayurvedic medicine and the basis of their connection. Through it, Vedic astrology and Ayurveda mirror each other as external and internal images of light and life. These factors figure importantly in Yoga practice as well, especially in the science of Svara Yoga, though which we judge the influences of the planets based upon our breath alone.8
Ayurvedic astrology combines these two great disciplines, using Vedic astrology to plot the influences of time and karma and Ayurveda to show how these relate to our state of Prana or vital energy. Combining these two great disciplines together, there is nothing that we cannot treat or cannot understand.
VIRGO MOON endows a person with many interests, hobbies and pursuits, with a curious but practical bent of mind. The digestion may be sensitive and easily upset by nervous or emotional disturbances. This position is good for artists, craftsmen, healers and yogis, for developing finer and more sattvic vibrations. As the Moon rules the eleventh house from Virgo, a Virgo Moon can give many outer achievements, goals and good business skills. 11. AQUARIUS MOON provides a self-effacing, idealistic and spiritual side to the personality. It is a common Moon for healers, monks and yogis on a higher side, but also for criminals, drug addicts and underworld figures on a lower side, depending upon whether Saturn has a detaching or debasing influence. As the Moon rules the sixth house from Aquarius, the health implications of this position are important, with an emotional vulnerability to disease.
Spiritually Emerald sharpens the mind for yoga, mantra and meditation. It helps us develop the higher or spiritually discriminating aspect of the mind (buddhi) for the Yoga of knowledge and aids in teaching spiritual subjects. It is also good for developing Prana and healing energy.
Spiritually Diamond is good for promoting devotion, Divine love and Bhakti Yoga. It also improves higher perception, opens us up to subtle energies and is good for Tantric practices, not just sexual but practices using the creative imagination and subtle perception including astrology.
Brihaspati, the main Vedic name for the planet Jupiter, means 'the lord (pati) of the vast or the profound (Brihat)', which indicates his role as the lord of the night sky, the brightest of the nocturnal stars. Brihaspati is the priest or guru of the Devas or Gods, the cosmic powers of light. He is the first and foremost of the human rishis, the great seers and sons of Agni or fire, who guide humanity spiritually. He is famous for his knowledge of mantra, ritual, yoga and Vedanta. Jupiter is also called Guru owing to his overall knowledge-giving and teaching role. As guru, one honors Jupiter by honoring one's guru.
A good astrologer can perhaps be best defined as a 'karmic counselor', guiding clients on how to better optimize their karmic potential in life and helping them to understand their unique karmic code and how to best implement it. In the same way, a good healer is also a 'karmic healer'. This healer helps clients remove the karmic causes, including the wrong attitudes and inappropriate life-styles behind their diseases, not simply just alleviate their symptoms.
Just as each planet has its mantra or special sound energy, so too it possesses a yantra or special energy pattern. A yantra is the visual energy body of the mantra and of the planet that it corresponds to. It is usually abstract in form, though some contain small pictures of plan
On a psychic or spiritual level Rahu types are often possessed by something, whether it is another entity, curses, unfulfilled longings from past lives, or simply driven by their own imagination. While they incline towards psychic, occult and astral pursuits, these can be dangerous for them as they have a lot of vulnerability to subtle energies. They may become mediums, do channeling or practice Tantra but are easily caught in illusions about what they do. They often have good healing powers and a great deal of empathy and can be very devoted. While interested in astrology, they usually do better at an intuitive level as they are seldom good at calculation.
Our inner Sun of Prana moves up and down the spine and the chakra system along with each breath, traversing our inner zodiac along the way. Each breath constitutes a day for our inner Pranic Sun, with our inhalation as the day time and our exhalation as the night time. This is the astrological basis of Yoga Pranayama techniques that aim at moving the awakened or spiritually energized Prana up and down the spine during the practice. If we can do this, then each one of our breaths will have a great power for activating the chakras and arousing the Kundalini, the serpent power that opens the chakras, and which itself is the awakened energy of our inner Pranic Sun. Not only the Sun but all the planets move through our subtle body or inner zodiac. They can be located in the chakras of the subtle body and their corresponding signs of the zodiac. The six chakras or energy centers of the astral body reflect the seven planets and the twelve signs that they rule. This sequence follows the...
The first verse for Saturn is the standard daily prayer used for the ritual drinking of water in Hindu practices. While one might find it odd to associate water with Saturn, a dry planet, Saturn is the lord of the great Prana or life-force of the waters of space, the cosmic waters. Saturn as Shani is related to the Vedic term Sham, meaning 'what is peaceful and auspicious', which is associated with Lord Shiva who is Sham-kara or Shankara, 'the maker of what is auspicious'. Through warding off negative Saturn energy we connect with these higher ben-efic forces.
The second verse is the Divine Mother Durga as the overruler of Rahu, in the form of the spotted Cow (Prishni) who symbolizes the night sky. The cow is also the Prana or life force that extends beyond Heaven and Earth to the realm of the immortals. Rahu gives that power of transcendence.
The chakras are the seven main energy centers located from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. First described by the Hindu yogis thousands of years ago, the chakra model for understanding human consciousness has survived the test of time and cultural changes. Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel, and each of these seven chakras is said to be a spinning wheel, creating a vortex of subtle life energy. The universal life energy is received by the chakras, transformed, and then distributed to the various levels of human activity associated with each chakra.
Rajas and Tamas, however, do not naturally belong to or function rightly in the domain of the mind, which is the natural realm of Sattva. Tamas becomes the ignorance and lack of attention which veils the mind. Rajas fuels desire and fantasy that are projected through it. As astrology measures the mental quality or Sattva of the person, Tamasic and Rajasic energies become negative in the chart. All evolution spiritually is in reducing Rajas and Tamas and increasing Sattva. When Sattva is pure it allows the perception of our true or Divine nature in which we go beyond the outer world.
Mars has a great deal to do with the blood stream for it rules the energy flow in the blood stream. It vitalizes, purifies, cleanses and stimulates all aspects and organisms in the body. The muscular system is under the rulership of Mars. It has rulership over the adrenal glands (sharing the rulership with Saturn). When Martian force is running rampant, one must run or fight. When Mars is afflicted by transit or progression in your natal chart, leant to channel that energy correctly, for you must do something. Mars is closely related to sex. an aspect of the pairs of opposites. Mars Is the most unbalanced of the planets, and the one most in need of restriction and direction.
Those with Uranus in the Sixth House bring new ideas to work, but also can be erratic or impatient they're often people who work well alone. Because sixth-house Uranus doesn't much go for routine, it may find its health difficulties are not run-of-the-mill, either. This placement also indicates that unusual or advanced methods may be employed at work, and there may be strong interest in spiritual or alternative healing practices or diets. These people may have ingenious scientific or mathematical ideas that lead to important inventions or new understandings, especially ones that have practical applications. Employment may be terminated suddenly or without notice, and illness is normally due to nervousness or irritability.
With a sixth-house Neptune, people tend to be idealistic about their work and sensitive to both their surroundings and their co-workers. This placement can be highly resourceful, but these people often prefer to work alone or behind the scenes. Health problems can be difficult to pin down or may be emotionally related. These people are usually learning to view work as a means of serving others in a spiritual way, and there can be many sacrifices asked of them. They also may have an intuitive understanding regarding the most effective work methods and processes and may be interested in spiritual healing or other natural forms of healing. When ill, these people have difficulties with drugs and prescription medications and benefit from natural foods or remedies.
Mars parallel, conjunction, sextile or trine to Sun. The conjunction gives a tendency to fever, especially if it occurs in Aries, the sign which governs the head, but it is curious that people with that configuration seem also to be able to endure a much higher temperature than others, and come unscathed through such a siege of sickness as would ordinarily prove fatal. With that exception these aspects all produce a super-abundance of vital energy which assures their possessor of the most radiant health all through life, they strengthen the constitution and make the person able to endure the harder tasks, and give him a dauntless determination and courage to face the greatest odds. Given a plan to follow he may be trusted to overcome all physical obstacles for he has both executive and constructive ability together with an indomitable will which refuses to recognize defeat. The disposition is frank and open but blunt and often brusque they are too intensely bent on whatever they want...
You have a serious approach to religion, philosophy and higher education and try to adhere to honorable and strict moral codes. Independent and capable, you search for truth and justice. You are intellectually disciplined and have good powers of concentration. You earn what you achieve through hard work and application. You are interested in the occult, both spiritually and philosophically. Your reputation is very important to you you are proud of your intellectual prowess and hurt when accused unjustly. You are outspoken, and your keen intuition and good scientific ability indicate that you can work well with those afflicted or limited. You could be a good teacher, preacher or political leader. Physical exercise to promote your circulation is important for you. With difficult aspects you could be self-righteous, indecisive, rebellious or resentful, and could try to impose your religious fervor on others.
The nature of Kumbha Lagna has been bewildering. The complexity concerning the subject has been increasing with every efforts to understand it deeply. To give the adjective 'enigma' to this sign is an understatement. By ploughing through the literature of ancient scriptures we have come across certain hints and suggestions which when worked out in detail and elaborated upon seem to give certain clues about the character and destiny of this ascendant. The very word Aquarius derived from its Latin origin refers to water-carrier. In Sanskrit, it only means a pitcher but the various other words related to this sign give some other significant clues. The word Kumbhaka is also related to a practice of holding the breath, and the word Kumbhaja is related to Rishi Agasthya who is said to be the future Manu but who, however, has abdicated this office in favour of one of his disciples who is now preparing himself for this august office. Naturally, therefore, the astrological sign Kumbha must be...
Emotional disturbances react on the physical body, producing strange physical disorders difficult to diagnose and more difficult yet to overcome. Inner attitudes can do more to change conditions than any outer medicine. Vague approach to reality. Confusion and chaos in the life until the individual becomes spiritually oriented and
If Mars was well aspected at birth thee aspects mark a period of considerable activity in the life which will be to the benefit of the person involved. A great deal of vital energy is accumulated and this dynamic force naturally must have an outlet in some way, hence this is a good time for the expansion of business or undertaking new enterprises they are sure to succeed if the person is not too precipitate in his efforts but uses a grain of caution in the expenditure of this great
Neil Franklin Michelsen, born May 11, 1931, in Chicago, was the founder and inspiration behind Astro Computing Services (ACS) and ACS Publications. He was a well-known figure in the astrological community for his contributions to contemporary astrology. He was a generous person who gave money, computer time, personal time, technical expertise, and encouragement to many different astrologers, holistic healers, and practitioners of occult arts.
Man has long been conceived of as a microcosm of the entire universe. Ancient yoga speaks of the chakras (or energy centers) within each person and many esoteric schools of thought have correlated various chakras with certain planets. This is so because the planets are related to us by the same vibratory energy waves which are latent within us and to which we respond. These chakras, therefore, are the centers within us which correspond to certain centers of energy in the solar system. The sign that a particular planet is in reveals the attunement of that energy wave or force within us. The planets generally symbolize basic forces or active centers in our solar system which manifest as fundamental psychological functions, urges, needs, and motivators. The planets in the signs serve, as it were, as primary stimuli in the energy fields of the signs. They symbolize the universal principles which regulate all energy functions in any organic whole. Another way of expressing this is to say...
There is another special grouping of houses unique to Vedic astrology. Houses 3, 6, 10 and 11 are called Upachaya or increasing houses. Planets located in them increase in strength through time and give progressively better results as one gets older. Malefics, like the Sun, Saturn, Mars and the lunar nodes, do well in these houses, whereas they do not do good in trines (as they can indicate a malefic nature). The lords of these houses (except the tenth) however, are usually inauspicious and can cause harm as they are too impulsive in nature. Of these houses, the tenth and eleventh are the best locations, though the tenth is more specifically an angular house. The eleventh is a good place for planets to be located in the chart as malefics do very well here and benefics do not do badly either (though not necessarily when located here with malefics). We notice by these different house factors that planets do well when they are located above the horizon in the chart, by the Midheaven, in...
This approach regards symptoms as temporary flareups or intensifications of continuing energy processes within the individual, in the same way as astrological transits produce (or correspond with) intensifications of experiences, energy flow, or discord indicated as potential in the natal horoscope. Numerous studies have, in fact, shown that physical dis-ease manifest particularly during times of mental or emotional stress. 5. Two books by Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder (Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain and Astrological Birth Control) include many reports of research into the energy dimension of physical, psychological, and parapsychological phenomena. Although too numerous to mention all of them here, the following give some idea of how wide-spread this new area of research has become. (Botli books also contain extensive bibliographies of research on human energy fields.) g. Acupuncturists believe Vital Energy in the body links man with...
This I will say more, to wit, that those who walk in their sleep, do, by no other guide than the spirit of the blood, that is, of the outward .man, walk up and down, perform business, climb walls, and manage things that are otherwise impossible to those that are awake. I say, by a magical virtue, natural to the more o. utward man that Saint Ambrose, although he was for distant in his body, yet was visibly present at the funeral solemnities of Saint Martin yet was he spiritually present at those solemnities, in the visible spirit of the external man, and no otherwise for inasmuch. as in that ecstasy which is of the more internal man, many of the saints have seen many and absent things. This is done without time and place, through the superior powers of the soul being collected in unity, and by an intellectual vision, but not by a visible pre sence otherwise the soul is not separated from the body, but in good earnest, or for alto. gether neither is it re-connected thereunto, which...
The four elements of astrological tradition refer to the vital forces (or energies) that make up the entire creation that is commonly perceived by human beings. The four elements in a birth chart reveal the ability to participate in certain realms of being and to tune in to specific fields of life experience. These elements have nothing to do with the elements of chemistry and in fact transcend them completely. The astrological birth chart is drawn for the moment of first breath, that instant when we immediately establish our lifelong attunement with cosmic energy sources. The birth chart therefore reveals your energy pattern or cosmic attunement to the four elements. In other words, the chart symbolizes the pattern of the various vibratory manifestations that comprise the individual's expression in this plane of creation.
This is the true house of education for it is concerned with progress of every kind, moral, mental, and spiritual. The house is always important in charts of those strongly interested in movements of progress and reform. Its gloomy title as the house of death is appropriate only because death is the greatest step forward known to us at our present Btage of evolution. If Pluto is badly aspected here it makes it easy to choose the path of degeneration, if that is the way an individual can learn the most. It need not be. With Pluto in this house there will be no standing still. One has to die to the old self and undergo rebirth while still in the body. There are no misty flats or drifting to and fro. It can mean a long life if the life force is not wasted. Heavy afflictions could mean the degeneration of the energies through dissipation and sensuality.
Keynote the life force as a path to God, the Universe, or the Source Rising Scorps are learning about the life force as a path to God, the Universe, or the Source. As part of this training, Rising Scorps may experience powerful and intense feelings, which they will then learn to master in order to fully understand their experiences.
Step on the next step, which is green. It's a vital grass green, or perhaps a sparkling emerald green. Visualize yourself green, and slowly roll the color green all the way up to the top of your head. Concentrate on being green. Breathe the green in deeply. Green has all the good qualities of yellow and blue, and it also brings growth, hope, expansion, acceptance, enthusiasm, sharing, energy flow, industry, sustenance, gratitude, searching, and nurturing. Green is the color of vitality, of living things. Breathe it in deeply. 13. This step is purple-violet. It is a deep violet color, like velvety pansies, or a deep royal blue with an extra dash of red in it. Unfurl the purple-violet slowly from the bottom of your feet all the way to the top of your head. Do it slowly. Purple-violet has all the qualities of blue and red, plus devotion, loyalty, service, responsibility, idealism, aspiration, understanding of justice, and royalty. Purple-violet is also an extremely healing color. Many...
Shamanism is an ancient practice of using intuition to heal, and Chiron A, an asteroid located between Saturn and Uranus that follows the same orbital plane as the planets, is named after a mythical centaur who was a gifted warrior, teacher, and shamanic healer. Astrologically, the asteroid Chiron is considered to be a symbolic shaman and wounded healer, and many astrologers study Chiron's cycles to note both universal and personal healing patterns. Chiron's cycles with Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are of particular interest because, as you'll recall from Chapter 22, Using Astrology to Map Your Life, these are slower-moving planets and so form aspects with longer and stronger impacts.
The Sun rising in Cancer brings out and accentuates all the good qualities mentioned above, giving more ambition and pride it also increases the vitality, and is a particular boon in that respect to people with Cancer rising on account of their very low life force. Cancer, with its rule the Moon, governs the stomach and hence alimentation Leo and its ruler, the Sun, have charge of the heart and circulation. If these signs and planets are well placed in the horoscope, they counteract most other afflictions and a long lease of life is assured, but if they are afflicted, much sickness results unless intelligent care is applied to modify the omen.
Be a good hostess, lover, partner, assistant, chief, or healer. She can be painfully firm, stubborn, and independent, even in love, but she will give her lover equal time if he asks for it. She is fair and tolerant of his foibles, and she will put up with more than will many other women. Problems seldom faze her. She is apt to treat them as mental challenges. She makes her man feel in the gifted, exhilarated sharer of secret knowledge. She creates an ambience of mutuality in which she is more than willing to shoulder her share. She is able to make her man feel lucky, to keep him wondering about what special, eternally changing, electric-magnetic cosmic energy he has plugged into.
The glyph for Uranus is rather different from the glyphs of other planets, and Uranus's placements in our chart do show our individual differences. The late astrologer Donald Bradley believed that Uranus has to do with the birth process, whereby we leave the womb and become separate individuals. Bradley felt the glyph for Uranus symbolized the birth process, for in stylized form it shows the infant, head down, passing through the birth canal. Uranus and Pluto are both connected with birth, but Pluto represents the reproductive process, in which something gradually grows within us. Uranus represents expelling that new life out of the safe, protective womb and into the world. As we grow spiritually, we leave less tangible wombs behind and become more and more individual. For example, astrologers associate divorce with Uranus, and divorce means that both parties now have to become individuals in their own right.
There is an exchange of energy in everything, a rhythmic pulsation of contraction and expansion which enables us to recognize that a plant, animal, or person is alive. Even the teeth and bones participate in this vital exhange of energy with the universal supply. All substance results from the unlimited combination of energy frequencies, and the basic energies at work have been termed the four humours, the four elements, or have been together designated as Qi, Prana, Mana, Vital Force, and other names depending on the culture concerned. Every living plant, animal, and human being is a complex energy field operating simultaneously at many levels, and each must maintain its own individual frequency in order to ensure its growth and development. At birth, the first breath initiates our direct supply of energy, our life-line with the Universal Power, our immediate attunement with the cosmos. So long as our particular energy pattern is well established and flows without obstruction, we are...
Man as individual is an embodiment of the universe, and that the same quality and the same conditions as those which are required to uphold the universe are essential to humanity and each of its members. This clearly shows that he was a deductive philosopher, arguing from universal s to particulars. He further shows that light in the physical world, intelligence in the spiritual world, and science in the social world are correspondences. Further, he shows that the mathematical point, the physical atom, and the spiritual monad are correspondences. This infers something more than a mere analogy or similitude. It argues a direct interaction or continuity the one with the other. It means, in fact, that the physical atom is the ultimate expression of the spiritual monad, and that without the latter there could be no physical existence whatsoever, since the physical universe is the bodying forth of the spiritual. Hence physically we have the atom, intellectually the point, and spiritually...
The Air signs express the life-energy which has been associated with breath or what the yogis term prana. The Air realm is the world of archetypal ideas beyond the veil of the physical world in the air element, the cosmic energy is actualized into specific patterns of thought. The Air signs have the inner need to detach themselves from the immediate experiences of daily life, and thus to gain objectivity, perspective, and a rational, reflective approach to everything they do.
The odd numbered of the constellations are the positive, masculine or active signs, the even numbered are negative, feminine, passive. For example, Aries, sign 1, is the positive or masculine sign of Mars, wherein its energy is outgoing, expressive, manifest. Scorpio, sign 8, is the negative or feminine sign, wherein its energy is internalized, hidden, acting behind the scenes. Generally planets are stronger in positive signs that is, they can accomplish more. Odd signs have a more yang or solar nature and even signs have a more yin or lunar nature. Odd signs are more energetic or rajasic even signs are more resistant or tamasic. Both positive and negative signs are necessary no distinction of high or low, good or bad is implied. The negative side of a planet is that portion of its orbit when it is gathering in cosmic energy the positive side, when it is releasing it. The planets exist to bring into the solar system their respective portion of the sevenfold cosmic energy from the...

In the field of modern psychology and parapsychology, researchers are now beginning to emphasize the importance of energy flow and energy blocks in dealing with their clients. Psychotherapeutic techniques such as Gestalt Therapy, Structural Integration, and Bio-Energetics are more and more concentrating on mobilizing the client's own energies and integrating these energies into a functional whole. Likewise, this is the purpose of astrology when applied to psychological and physical problems.
Each of the elements embraces a number of meanings and correspondences each has its inherent characteristics, activity, direction, season, color, planet, organ, etc. These allow the nature of each element to be defined, but it must not be forgotten that the elements never exist tn isolation they are dynamic
KNOWING thee to be a curious searcher afte r those sciences which are out of the common track of study, (I mean the art of foretelling events, magic, telismans, &c.) I am moved spiritually to give thee my thoughts up on them, and by these ideas here written, to open to thine eye (spiritual) as much information as it seems necessary for thee to know, by. which thou mayest be led by the hand into the delectable field of nature and to give thee such documents as, guided by the suprem e wisdom of the Highest, thou mayest refresh thy soul with a delicious draught of kn owledge so that after recreating thy spirit with the use of those good gifts which may pl ease God to bestow on thee, thou mayest be wrapped up into the contemplation of the imm ense wisdom of that great munificent Being who created thee.
Jupiter parallel, conjunction, sextile or trine to the Moon gives an optimistic, noble and generous disposition. The open-hearted honesty, fairness and friendliness of such people make them universally popular. These aspects strengthen both the reasoning faculties and constitution they give a strong mind in a strong body and hence a powerful personal magnetism which may be used to great advantage in healing the sick. They have lofty ideals and a fruitful imagination with the power of acquiring wealth which will grow greater if used in philanthropic enterprises of which these people are prone to dream. These are some of the best aspects in the gamut and make for general success in life both physically and spiritually. The leash of Saturn is not pleasant we sometimes chafe, fret and fume while being thus held in leash, but meanwhile we ripen and are more fitted, when the obstruction is removed, to have or use that which Saturn delayed, for as we develop physical muscle by overcoming...
However, the Sun in Vedic astrology is also regarded as a Sattvic or spiritual planet. This is quite different than the other malefics which are Tamasic, gross or unspiritual, in quality. Hence in this sense of quality, the Sun is a good planet and gives high values like self-esteem, integrity and independence. One such action which is spiritually beneficially but materially malefic, it can help separate us from material abundance and worldly happiness and cause to seek self-knowledge. Much of the western sense of the Sun as a benefic can be understood in the eastern sense of the Sun as a spiritual or Sattvic planet.
On the level of normal experience, any relationship may be viewed as an interaction of two energy fields. Although many refinements may be brought into play, the art of comparing charts is essentially an analysis of how the energies of two people exchange with one another. This is not to say that there is no deeper meaning behind this apparent play of energies, such as past life karma. But, as far as most astrologers are reliably able to perceive, this relative compatibility of energies is the fact at hand with which they have to deal. An analysis of the harmony of elements in a chart comparison reveals how and where the two people are able to feed each other's energy field, as well as how the two block each other's energy flow and therefore frustrate each other. When a blockage exists, there is an experience of either great frustration or severe depletion of energy, or sometimes both. When there is a mutual harmonious interchange of energy, there is an experience of satisfaction,...
Over with life and energy to such an extent that it is often very difficult to curb them sufficiently to hold them within the bounds of safety and common sense. They are self-assertive and aggressive to a degree, always in the lead for they scorn to follow, turbulent and radical in all their thoughts, ideas and actions. They are venturesome to the verge of foolhardiness. We also find that they are greedy for the fruits of their labor, they never can get enough, and no matter how much they earn they are generally poor for they spend as freely and as thoughtlessly as they earn. They make splendid foremen and overseers, for, being so full of vital energy and ambition themselves, they have a faculty of infusing their energy into their subordinates or forcing them to work when necessary. But being too impulsive and reckless they lack the ability to originate for themselves. They are serious and ardent in all they undertake they cannot go into anything halfheartedly, and therefore, if they...
The element of the Ascendant reveals the quality of energy flow directly vitalizing the physical body and the overall approach to life* Fire or Air signs rising tend to conduct energy, encouraging active self-expression and dynamic expenditure of energy. Earth or Water signs rising tend to conserve and resist the flow of vital energies, and hence indicate self-containment (sometimes self-repression) and the tendency of living within oneself.
Jupiter in Leo gives a truly noble nature, blending kindness and courage, self-reliance and loyalty, self-restraint and compassion, mercy and justice. It indicates, in short, a paragon of virtues nowhere excelled. It gives an abundance of vitality and a strong constitution so that it marks a leader physically, morally and spiritually, nor will such a person ever be content to follow. He craves positions of trust and responsibility, the greater the better. He will always be equal to the occasion and never abuse the confidence of those who have placed him there. Such people have an innate culture and refinement. They are fond of everything that tends to the uplift of humanity, religious, sincere sure to win recognition and success dealing in speculative investments. When Jupiter is afflicted in Leo the person becomes cruel and sensuous, abnormally fond of pleasure and subject to loss by investments, speculation and gambling.
The idea involved in the preceding chapter is common to all religious systems, and consequently we may expect it to be reflected in any system of kabalism which has regard t the unfolding of human destiny this unfoldment is the natural means by which man draws near to the attainment of the full stature of Christ , which, as we have seen, is kabalistically represented by the square of 12, or 144, the enumeration of the name of the primal ancestor, or of that race of humanity which became sons of God by the inbreathing of the Spirit (Cosmic Symbolism, chap. i). What in the animal man is merely desire becomes in the Adamic race converted into will, and this same force of divine energy working in man will eventually bring him to a state where he is both mentally and physically capable of a fuller expression of the Spirit. In developing these ideas I am but extending the cosmical conceptions of Bruno into the realm of the true Kabala. We observe one cosmic energy or life working through a...
Pluto in the house of adjustment means a purging of the motives and of the mind. A healer or a hypochondriac The choice is there. If one loses one's self in service one hasn't time to be sick. With a Virgo background Pluto in this house can be the nitpicker. Being critical and sitting in judgment are signs of deep feelings of insecurity and inferiority. Pluto represents large groups and corporations, and a person with Pluto in this house may feel submerged as an individual in such an impersonal materialistic environment There is an adjustment necessary where employment and fellow workers are concerned. If Pluto in this house is afflicted (especially to Mercury) nerves axe a problem that could cause difficulties which are not easily diagnosed. There can be trouble stemming from wrong reactions where others are concerned. There could be instability and criticalness which are unexpressed, but which are still felt by others. The individual thinks that because nothing was said the other...
The Scorpio Woman is an eternally intriguing creature who, like the Sphinx, seems to know and guard the riddles of life and death. She either fascinates or frightens nearly every man. She is magnetic, lusty, and endowed with mysterious powers. She can devastate with a look or revitalize with the healing energy in her eyes and hands.
Neptune in the Tenth House, when well aspected indicates one of high aspirations and inspirations, spiritually inclined, who has the ability to rise to leadership, fame and honor, in connection with some mystical society or in scientific research. This position of Neptune also indicates an accident to one of
Outings with Piscean friends will be most enjoyable. They will inspire us by taking us to art galleries we have not been to or if they are spiritually inclined, introduce us to all kinds of philosophies and disciplines. They might read our tarot particularly interestingly, or perhaps be students of astrology. If they claim to be psychic, the best advice and encouragement we can give them is to work with someone who is really experienced and knows what they are doing. otherwise their talent or gift can all too easily be misdirected.
The Pisces Woman is a particularly good candidate for enlightened sexual methods. She crusades for spiritual growth. She has a primal need to love wholly. In order to realize herself, she needs to transcend the negative emotions that could keep her confined to depression and ultimately lead to self-destruction. Sexual energy is a potent basic energy in humans. If the Piscean harnesses it, she is using universal energy. If she misuses it, she drains herself of self-love and creativity.
While Mars is at its most potent in the signs it rules, its influences are a powerful marker by which an astrologer can determine the level of the subject's physical energy, assertiveness, and sex drive. The way the planet manifests its influence is geared to the sign it is in, and we are able to discover whether the energy is high or low, whether it will have immediate impact, giving the subject a rush of adrenalin and sudden anger, or whether the energy flow is controlled and burned up in a regulated way, perhaps through regular exercise.
The Moon parallel, conjunction, sextile or trine to Jupiter gives an optimistic, noble and generous disposition. The open-hearted honesty, fairness and friendliness of people with these aspects make them universally popular. These aspects strengthen both the reasoning faculties and constitution, so that such people usually have a strong mind in a strong body and hence a powerful personal magnetism which may be used to great advantage in healing the sick. They have lofty ideals and a fruitful imagination with the power of acquiring wealth which will grow greater if used in philanthropic enterprises of which these people are prone to dream. This is one of the best aspects in the gamut and makes for general success in life both physically and spiritually.
Mercury in conjunction, parallel, sextile or trine to Neptune makes a man peculiarly adapted to the occult art, particularly if the conjunction occurs in the Third or Ninth House or the trines are from watery signs--Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces. Such people usually succeed in occult science and often develop a supernormal faculty. They are particularly good as magnetic healers.
Although you have good organizational ability, you experience a conflict between inhibition ( h ) and action ( d ). You find it hard to control your energy flow it is like driving with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas. However, your sense of economy and judgment enables you to take sound action. If this conjunction is challenged by difficult aspects, you may develop a persecution complex, sex problems or some physical difficulty which relates to the sign of the conjunction.
The Cosmic Woman seeks to reunite the separate parts of herself. Her memory seems to stretch back into the primordial past, when the opposing energies within her emanated from a unity in which everything functioned in harmony and accord. She has accomplished what the woman in the Gemini phase seeks but often doesn't find the wholeness in which her male and female energies are reconciled, and her mind and body have worked out a mutually respectful truce and have agreed to cooperate. She is no longer torn between the spirit that dreams of the stars and the physical body that tends the cabbages and sweeps the floor. She knows just how aggressive to be, and just how yielding. She is totally at peace. She has learned that she does not have to give up her negative energies or suppress them and hope they will go away. She has learned how to hold them in balance by applying the positive energies that also abound within her.
Back in Chapter 2, we presented keywords for each of the numbers and indicated that the keywords actually represented only the positive potential of a particular number. Each number, we said, could be thought of as a continuum of energies with the keywords as a desirable focus. In the chapters that followed, we explored many of the positive and negative energies along the continuums. This is a good time to consolidate and expand our understanding of these continuums.
Popular astrology deals with Sun signs, and it is common among professional astrologers to discount any exploration of the zodiac as Sun Sign Astrology. Astrologers are both right and wrong in doing this. They are right in that the complete natal chart must be drawn up for a true and thorough understanding of the individual and wrong in belittling the importance of the Sun. The Sun is the center of our solar system from which all life in this system has evolved. Similarly, the Sun in our charts is the center of our being and the origin of our own life force. Its zodiac sign is crucial in forming our character and tells a great deal about us. We will not be exploring Sun signs in this book, since your own previous exploration of the twelve signs is somewhat of a prerequisite, but this chapter is devoted to understanding the role the Sun plays in our charts and our lives.
This is another aspect of its positive attitude to life. The man is one who acts whereas a female is the one who is feminine or absorptive. Purusha aspect of creation is the positive force while Prakriti represents the passive or the negative aspect of life-force. When Jupiter is said to be manly, it does not imply that it would make the individual under its influence combative and aggressive which are far from the effects of this planet. This expression only implies that the individual will be moving in the right direction to attain his destiny.
In this example chart you can see the lines indicating a Square Sextile and Trine on a chart. In recap squares are interference patterns between the planets. oppositions are not as stressful and can in some cases work positively. Sextiles are ease of energy flow between the planets and trines are inertia.
The archetypes are unique in that they can power-up, so-to-speak. Jung uses the term libido for psychic energy, and when an archetype 'revs-up' it takes on numinosity, and in some cases, luminosity. Jung uses these terms to describe the aura of great light and warmth that is attached to the archetypes when they become manifest in a strong human experience. When a numinous psychic event takes place, a large concentration of psychic energy centers around it. As energy constellates around the archetypal symbol a complex of psychic contents takes form. For Jung psychic processes seem to be balances of energy flowing between spirit and instinct, though the question of whether a process is to
Fifth-house Neptune loves pleasure and luxury, and is drawn to anything that involves an element of fantasy. This is especially true of the movies, and Neptune's fifth-house creativity is often found in this field. When challenged by aspect, this placement can indicate a childlike or naive approach to love or risks, and this, in turn, can mean people may take advantage of them. This placement also indicates idealistic and visionary potentials, and these people may create intuitively or spiritually inspired art or music. They need to be appreciated for their creative talents.
The planets in the signs represent the basic urges toward expression and needs for fulfillment, but the aspects reveal the actual state of the energy flow and thus how much personal effort is needed in order to express a particular urge or to fulfill a particular need. CONJUNCTION (0 ) Any conjunction in an individual chart should be regarded as important, since it indicates an intense merging and interaction of two life energies. The most powerful of all conjunctions are those involving one of the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) or the Ascendant. Such conjunctions always characterize particularly strong modes of energy flow and personal expression (by planet and sign) and dominant emphases in the person's life (by house). The keynote of the conjunction is action and self-projection.
Astrologically, the 5th Bho u represents die creative urge of the Cosmic Man, Kala Purusha. 'Ihc 5th sign of the zodiac is intimately conneclcd with this Bhava. This can be indirectly seen from its symbol SI which to a great extent resembles a living sperm eager to unite and procreate. It is therefore logical to expect that Leo-born individuals have great creative urge and tremendous aspiration to grow and multiply, to expand and develop. Their creative faculty is expressed at all levels of manifestation Even on the physical plane, they have great sexual potential. Ibey indeed represent those egos that move rapidly on the path of involution, of course without forgetting their divine ancestry They are restless, full of life-force, always eager to explore new avenues, to establish new ramifications and to interpret a new the meaning of existing things and relationships. Divine manifestation within the timespace parameter symbolically represented as forest often provides the field for...
Neptune in Sagittarius is open, honest, and idealistic, and astrologers put great store by the generations born in this sign, the sign of higher learning, philosophy, and freedom. During its last transit here, we saw Watergate brought out in the open, and Jimmy Carter, an idealistic Washington outsider, elected President. Neptune's last transit also was a period of universal travel, as millions of people began to see the world. New and mystical religions sprang up all over, and music and art were often spiritually oriented. Personal fitness and outdoor sports also became popular. Neptune in Sagittarius natives often feel a need for greater religious and philosophical values and may revise existing laws or ways of thinking to reflect that need. Neptune in Sagittarius is prophetically inspired.
The third group is comprised of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. This group symbolizes the most profound sources of change in life, transcendent dimensions of experience, and the most subtle energies to which we are attuned. These forces affect our more conscious faculties through inspiration, flashes of insight, intuition, innate knowledge not learned through the intellect, an urge to merge oneself in a greater whole, and a strong impulse toward refining one's deepest nature. When these energies come into
Neptune conjunction, parallel, sextile or trine to Mercury gives a mind peculiarly adapted to the occult art, particularly if the conjunction occurs in the Third or Ninth House or the trines are from the watery signs Cancer and Pisces. Such people usually succeed in occult science and often develop a supernormal faculty. They are particularly good as magnetic healers.
Telluric geomancy is a comparatively recent use of the word to designate both the beliefs of feng-shui (concerning the interrelation of man, his buildings and tombs with the life force, or ch'i, which flows through his environment) and its recently evolved western counterpart concerned with the study of megalithic alignments and ley lines.
Combined rays of Mars and the Sun, which are house and exaltation rulers. Thus it is prepared or the battle of existence by the energetic war-god, and its fountain of life, be it large or small, is filled to capacity by the Sun, from the great cosmic reservoir of vital energy.
An overly strong but malefically disposed Sun creates pride, arrogance, tyranny and control. It creates much of the same problems as Mars (or Saturn) when too strong. It can give a deceptive charisma and a dominating personality. When the Sun is strong we outshine everyone else for good or ill depending on whether its disposition is benefic or malefic, conscious or unconscious. A weak but spiritually disposed Sun makes us receptive, wanting to do good and self-effacing. We may lack in confidence and come under the rule of other
Taureans usually value stable and happy home and married lives. They can be very romantic and devotional and are often votaries of the idea that all is love. They are attached to the earth, often work with their hands and leave their mark of form on their practical environment. Their mode is to acquire, preserve and refine. Spiritually they are also more devotional and like tradition and ritual.
Tawny is a bold woman, blessed with outstanding strength of purpose, and vigor of the body, mind, and spirit. Once fixed on a goal, she will pursue it with a zealot's conviction. This past year, she carried off the amazing task of organizing and spearheading the largest gathering of psychics and metaphysical practitioners ever assembled in her province. A humanist to her core, Tawny has always had a fascination for the esoteric. From extraterrestrials to auras, astrology to reiki healing, she has explored them all.
The concept of impossibility isn't one that she can embrace now. Impossibility often becomes possibility, given attention, love, work, and positive energies. She has the power to embrace negatives and glean from them the positive energies that she knows they must contain.
Vatican II led Roell on a 30-year study of metaphysics, which eventually included theosophy, Alice Bailey, the seven rays, Gothic architecture, the esoteric church, the Great Ages, alchemy, reincarnation, pyramidology, astral projection, pranic healing, magic, UFOs, Gurdjieff Ouspensky, the Second Coming, and other subjects. In 1983, he bought his first astrology book. From 1986 to 1990, he worked at the New York Astrology Center. In 1993, on a dare, he and a friend established what eventually became the Astrology Center of America, in Ventura, California. In January 1996, the store moved onto the Internet as AstroAmerica.com. In 1998 he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since 2000, he has lived in New York City with his wife, Elizabeth, and their daughter, Veracity.
Those having too little emphasis on the earth element are not naturally attuned to the physical world, the physical body, or to the limitations and requirements of survival in the material plane. They can therefore be spaced out, since they are not grounded in the here and now realization of their dependence on material things such as food, money, shelter, and other practical considerations. Such a person is often able to ignore the requirements of surviving in the material world and tends to fight growing up and accommodating himself to harsh necessities until he is forced to do so by the impinging demands of the reality he'd prefer to ignore. This lack of contact with the material world and with the physical dimension of reality can lead to the person feeling totally out of place in this world, with no grounding or rootedness to provide him with support and solidity in his efforts to express himself. He often feels like he has no place to stand, doesn't fit into any niche in...
Is perhaps the most well-known, often associated with the archetypal theme of the wounded healer. He was the son of Kronos (astrological Saturn) and a sea nymph called Philyra. Because both parents were in their horse form when he was conceived, Chiron emerged as a centaur half horse, half human. (Note here the reference to the deep past the conditions around our conception.) Philyra was so horrified that she prayed to be turned into anything other than what she was the mother of a monster. Chiron was abandoned and rescued by a shepherd who took him to the Sun god Apollo. This suggests the primary level of wounding that Chiron can depict, in a dramatic and painful separation from his mother who rejects him. This reminds us that even with the best mothering, at the animal level we all suffer from a sense of abandonment at birth. Chiron's mother Philyra also demonstrates the primary state of mind that creates suffering (i.e., the inability to accept things). Further, we can see the...
Christino is certified Level IV by the NCGR, has a B.A. in English from Colgate University, and took graduate classes at Columbia University. She studied traditional astrology with Zoltan Mason and Robert Zoller and modern techniques with Al H. Morrison. She practices yoga and meditation and has also studied zen, Reiki, and numerology.
Sample speculations characteristic of the esoteric approach are the notion that the individual soul incarnates in each of the 12 signs of the zodiac in succession (Manly Palmer Hall) and that each of the zodiacal signs has an esoteric ruler, different from an exoteric ruler (Alice A. Bailey). Other significant features are utilization of the notions of reincarnation and karma to explain hard aspects and soft aspects, the correlation of the planets with the charkas (the energy centers of the Hindu yoga tradition), and a spiritual interpretation of the elements. Beyond the aforementioned thinkers, other key shapers of modern esoteric astrology are Alan Leo, Max Heindal, and Rudolf Steiner.
Mann's life time astrology system is used by astrologers, psychologists, and healers in Europe, the United States, Australia, and the Far East. It is unique as a synthesis of biology, physics, psychology, and astrology. This combination has led to the development of a unique method of treatment at a distance through the horoscope, called Astro*Radionics, as described in Astrology and the Art of Healing (1987). Mann applied the principle of logarithmic time scales to the historical process and mechanism of reincarnation in The Divine Plot Astrology and Reincarnation (1986) and The Elements of Reincarnation (1995). Astrology is used as an organizing device for understanding the universe, from the subatomic level to the astronomical. The Divine Life Astrology and Reincarnation (2002) combines Life Time Astrology and The Divine Plot.
Required is generally the same for all a complete physical and emotional purging. Dr. Stone, whom we mentioned earlier, stated in lecture that 90 to 95 of physical problems involve the water element and therefore the emotional side of the nature. Those in whom the water element is not operating efficiently are particularly prone to physical symptoms of disease. The fact that the watery energy is the cleansing and healing force is evident in the great preponderance of water signs in the charts of most natural healers. The diet of those lacking water should be watched carefully, and they can greatly benefit from periodic cleansing diets or moderate fasts. In other words, when these people consciously work at augmenting the cleansing function on the emotional and physical levels, they are able to overcome many of these problems and to avoid most of the severe disturbances to which such a toxic state would eventually lead.
In early life the desire for children will be strong. In middle life and in old age the interests and general welfare of young people will be foremost in the native's mind. He will sometimes find himself with a position which deals directly with helping young people spiritually and materialistically.
The world-soul is again in its turn linked to the universal soul. The world-soul is the planetary or earth consciousness the universal consciousness is centred in the solar sphere, which is the coordinating centre of the system, spiritually, psychically, and physically. That is why the seers and prophets call the Lord of the Universe the Day Star and the Sun of Righteousness .
PISCES is the twelfth sign of the zodiac, its symbol is known as the fishes. It takes the form of two fishes swimming in opposite directions. The fish are sometimes shown with their tails tied together. The symbol is the shape of two crescents joined in the middle by a bar. It implies the double nature in man, the physical and spiritual, the spiritual being the most active in natives of Pisces. Some of our most renowned psychics and researchers in occultism were born under this sign Eileen J. Garrett, Edgar Cayce, John Boone Romises and Manly Palmer Hall, just to mention a few. The Pisces native is spiritually inclined and constantly striving to solve the problems of mankind and initiate improvements wherever feasible. Pisces is frequently referred to as the Red Cross of the Zodiac, it is the sign of the refugee whether in hospitals, asylums, or other places of human distress. The sun usually enters this sign on February 20.
